I often get asked what being a psychic is like and I like to compare it sometimes to a beautiful waterfall, as in the image with this article.
The term 'psychic' is generally used in relation to a person who has the ability to recognize things that are hidden from the five basic senses. In other words, psychic powers allow the individual to sense something through the use of extra-sensory perception.
While some people are blessed with extraordinary powers at birth, there are others who develop such powers by constant practice and training. Psychics and their powers are often met with sceptical glances, but nevertheless exist. There are different types of psychic powers in this world, but I will concentrate on the following four. Your psychic make up maybe a mix of the following:-
Clairvoyance – The Water
It is the ability to have ‘CLEAR-SEEING’. Almost everyone knows what clairvoyance is – it’s the ability to ‘SEE’ Spirit.
If we think again about our waterfall, then this is the free flowing water that brings clairvoyants their ability to see auras, spirits, symbols and receive visual premonitions. Some clairvoyants see things in their mind’s eye and some can see with their physical eyes. Both are possible, but it’s more common to see in the mind’s eye. Whereas a clairsentient might look at your photo and pick up on your feelings and emotions, a clairvoyant would probably see your aura, the essence of your spirit and spirit guides or angels around you. When reading a situation, a clairvoyant may see a symbol or a movie-scene which is a metaphor for the situation.
Clairaudience – The Babbling Water
It is the ability to have ‘clear-hearing’. Literally to ‘HEAR’ Spirit.
We all know and love that feeling when we are by a waterfall we can hear the gentle tones of the water which can either smooth us or invigorate us depending on the flow.
I feel that clairaudience is that little voice inside you that babbling water that issues warnings or gives inner guidance. It tends to speak to you when you are in danger or when you have an important decision to make that will impact on your life. If clairaudience is your primary clair, your higher self and guides will use mostly clairaudient means to communicate with you, including sounds, words and songs you’re familiar with. These can be internal or they can be outside of you. You may also hear voices in your dreams or upon waking.
Clairsentience – The Rocks
It is the ability to have ‘CLEAR-FEELING’.
We all have our own ‘inner rock’ and as such it is perhaps the most down-to-earth of all the intuitive gifts. Most people use clairsentience on a daily basis. Many people use feelings to send them their own intuitive guidance. For example, you may experience a feeling of discomfort and then intuitively feel impulsed to look behind you only to see someone staring at you.
Claircognizance – The Sunlight
It is the ability to have ‘CLEAR-KNOWING’. Claircognizants ‘know’ certain things without being told.
Sometimes we forget that it is also about the things that you can’t see – the sunlight that also brings life for the palm trees to grow and nurture. We know that it is there but cannot touch it.
As such I feel that when claircognizants are working in this area they are nurturing their higher self or spirit guides put information (in the form of thought) into their mind.
This can be a whole load of information that is ‘downloaded’ into the mind like a flood of sunshine. It can be smaller insights about people and situations here and there. It can be an inspired bright idea. All claircognizance is characterized by this strong sense of knowing that goes beyond logic and by the fact that the intuitive information comes into the mind, not into the heart or the mind’s eye. For example, you have a sense of inner knowing that it would not be a good idea to accept the job you’ve just been offered, despite the fact that it seems perfect.
Finally, when you put together this ‘waterfall’ you have a powerful mix for inner healing and personal development.
